Hello all,

I've spent a lot of time perusing this community and love it. I haven't come across my exact questions from someone with my hair type, so I figured I'd ask them myself. :) I more or less just want some advice from people who've been doing this long before I.

Fwiw, I've been using bs and wv successfully for years and my dark brown hair is darker, if anything.

Yeah, I was going to say, don't worry about BS lightening your hair. Try it again, and see if that resolves you stringy issue.

I agree, don't worry about the color lightening. It just sounds as if you are transitioning, as others have said. For some, the transition can take a few months. It may be that you're doing too much "mixing". I'd just stick to the BS, and possibly a conditioner of some kind. Some people find ACV too heavy for the hair, (even if half a teaspoon is used in a cup of water), and find the oils to be a bit less manageable than they would like. Perhaps, a catnip (or rosemary, stinging nettle, or calendula...) infusion or tea rinse may be better for you? Just as a side note Calendula is better for lighter hair colors--and it can lighten your hair.

I've never used it, but there are people that prefer to use lemon juice (less than a tea spoon in 8 oz of water)instead of other conditioning rinses. It's something that you might want to try?

Rosemary will help to darken your hair. BS shouldn't change the colour of your hair. Don't fret, just experiment - that's what we're all about here at no 'poo
