Ok. I'll start out by saying that I've finally joined this community! I found it at the end of August, and now have been no 'poo for 6 months. And I love it. I love that I am no longer dependent on one more thing, one bit more independent of mainstream junk ( Read more... )

sticky hair, dandruff, bangs, buildup, giving up no 'poo, hair types - thick and wavy, waxy buildup, in-between days, henna, brushes and combs, removing gunk

Hello, I have hard water too although my hair is fine and straight. But what helped me with the type of dandruff you describe is scalp massaging. I do it morning and night, with just the pads of my fingers. It feels really nice so it isn't a chore! At first it seemed like it was making it worse, but actually I think it was just lifting all the crud that was stuck there! Delightful thought. Then I give it a good brush.

If you have a brita water filtration jug or something - wash your hair in the sink with that as a water source. Hard water might be leaving a building up stuff on your scalp. I had the same type of dandruff too, and this worked like a charm. I agree with pionie, about the scalp massaging, it feels good and it helps.

I also found out that ACV makes my hair greasy too, so I tried lemon juice and a splash of WV and it worked REALLY well.

I never thought of hard water as a factor before. I will try the Brita filter and the lemon juice.
I have noticed (besides the greasiness and weird dandruff - which I wonder if it is the bkg soda itself?_
That my hair is very curly (normally it is pretty straight) and also it looks lighter blonde than normal. I am not sure why it looks blonder.
My hair is fine but I have a lot. I do wonder if I am getting the bs out of it even though I rinse like crazy.
I have never had a problem with vinegar smell and it wouldn't bother me anyway.

Oh yeah, I will do the scalp massage as well, and I do have a boar bristle brush.

also, you should add a couple drops of rosemary essential oil to your ACV rinse. This will a)get rid of your dandruff in a heart beat and b)leave your hair smelling nice instead of like vinegar (if you wash the vinegar out well).
