Not a true problem, just blatant vanity...

So, I've been washing with a standard BS/ACV routine for about three weeks now, and I think I've gotten most of the kinks worked out. The only thing I miss is having scent in my hair, because smelling like flowers and spice markets and rainbows is probably way too high of a priority for me. What's the best way to get scent in my hair without making ( Read more... )

You can put essential oil in your ACV rinse or make your ACV rinse in an herbal tea to make your hair smell pretty. I use rosemary EO, although that tends to darken hair (not a problem for me as I'm a dark brunette anyway). Chamomile does well on blond or light red hair and it smells nice and soothing.

This. I've used the Chamomile method, and I think it helps soothe my scalp too.

EO won't make hair greasy, will it? I know it's a tiny amount, but I just got over a week of annoying greasiness that wouldn't go away and now I'm paranoid. Will all EOs darken hair, or just rosemary (I'm blonde, and I'd prefer my hair stayed that color)?

No, EO won't make your hair greasy. You only use a few drops; it's not enough to make your hair greasy. Rosemary tends to darken hair whether you use the EO or make a rosemary tea for your ACV rinse; since you're blonde, I'd recommend chamomile. Chamomile tends to lighten hair and brightens blonde and light red shades.

I love the smell of herbs in my hair... that includes anything from nettle to rosemary and sage infusions. Cosmetics companies WISH they could create scents this subtle and pleasing.

EOs are a good suggestion--look under the appropriate tag. Also, your solid perfume--I don't know much about those, but hair is really good at retaining all sorts of odors. How about, apply the solid perfume to your hands, and then smooth it over your dry hair? If it has any staying power, it will stay in your hair. I have a very viscous but great-smelling amber oil that I use this way sometimes.
