I recently started no poo again, but I want to know what does your hair actually feel like once the adjustment period is over? I don't want to work at it for weeks or months only to not like the way my hair turns out

Yes, by all that is holy.... It's WONDERFUL! My hair feels cleaner than it ever did with layers of products and chemicals. My adjustment period (not really a detox) was longer than most people, and I had to try several different things to find the perfect combo, but it is WELL worth it! The feeling of REALLY clean hair that I don't have to wash every single day of my life is very rewarding. Going No-Poo is one of the best things I ever did for myself, and I'm normally extremely skeptical about "going natural" under most circumstances. It DOES take patience to get it right, though. Day 11 was certainly not a good day for me, either.
Okay, so here's the thing. I like no-poo a lot, and my hair looks much better and is undoubtedly healthier since I quit using shampoo. However, I did find that (once I got past the detox phase) my hair adopted a different texture than I was used to with shampoo... not better or worse, just different, and it took getting used to. I used shampoo again last night (long story) and noticed that old feeling again; while I enjoyed the soft wispy-ness of my shampoo'ed hair, I also noticed how dry and frizzy my hair was, and how my curls disappeared, and how my hair was nowhere near as shiny as it was on no-poo.
I agree with the above poster that you have to be patient and try different things until you find what works for you. I have thick, dry, curly/wavy hair... I still have to "wash" every other day, but the tiniest drop of jojoba oil over my entire head does wonders for my frizzies and curls!
I wash my hair once a week with BS and tea. On the day I wash my hair is pretty much like it was with shampoo. On in between days its definitely oiler (not greasy-oily). I donno, I like it.
well, I really prefer my no-poo hair, since it feels like it actually WEIGHTS something, it has body. I also can "flip" it, which I couldn't do before, it was so dry and had no weight. I had to try several things before I settled to my favorite and more efficient routine: CO twice a week, finish with a vinegar rinse, plus aloe gel and coconut oil. Air drying. (I had to wash everyday before, and I blowdried)
I agree with everyone above, you have to be patient, day 11 was an ugly day for me too, it took me 12 weeks to transition. And I still had weird days from time to time afterwards. For me, it was worth it!
