I'd never have thought of Epsom Salts. I'm using BS/WV at the mo. I did one wash with washing up liquid to clarify as I've been using cones for years but am back with the BS now. My hair is quite greasy unless I use lots of BS so I might just give the Epsom salts a go.

This post is pretty old. I've since gone back to using shampoo, because attempt number 2 at no poo also failed miserably. The epsom salt worked well the first one or two times I used it, but then my hair started getting really really greasy, my scalp got really itchy, and nothing worked to get rid of the grease or the itch, so I ended up caving again and going back to shampoo. I'm a poor, cash-strapped college student right now, so I ended up going back to an inexpensive drug store brand. The natural brands they sell in my area are way too pricey, at about $12 and up for a small bottle that would last me maybe a month, if that.

I only noticed the date after I'd sent my message - didn't expect to hear back from you!
I'm a poor student myself and that's part of what attracted me to the BS/WV thing - it's so cheap! The first time I used no poo my scalp felt better than ever but since then I have had a bit of itchiness. I'll stick with it a while longer to see how it goes. I find if I use loads of BS it seems to get rid of the grease but the 'normal' amounts that other people seem to use just don't cut it for me.
I totally agree the natural stuff is way too pricey. Hmm, maybe we should make our own and become rich selling it :-)

I have my settings set up so that I get email alerts whenever someone replies to one of my comments or entries. Otherwise, I never would have known you replied.
