This may be a shot in the dark, but what about your brush? could it have something to do with what you are brushing your hair with? You say it only happens after you brush your hair...
but maybe the brush is doing something to your hair initially and other stuff is encouraging it to act up again.
is your brush plastic? i love my wooden brush, so i'm always happy to pimp the use of wood as brush the body shop's brush is wonderful. (bass brush bristles are designed terribly, it pulls my hair out)
maybe try a teeny bit of a non-essential oil? that might encourage it to stay down a little more.
It's not dry hair, obviously, since yours sounds great. It's dry air. Have you considered getting a humidifier?
I have this problem all the time in the winter if I forget to run mine even for one day. I feel sorry for my cats the most when that happens because they are constantly getting shocked by the carpet.
Ahh, that must be it! I run a humidifier at night so I don't wake up with a sore throat, but I never thought to run it during the day since I'm not here. I do have two cats and their fur is also quite prone to the static...I didn't even connect their static problem to mine! I just moved last summer and the air here is much dryer than where I came from. To make matters worse, the heating in my apartment isn't very efficient and I'm forced to run a space heater in my bedroom, which only makes things worse. I've got a turtle as well...ever since winter came, I have to add about 2 gallons a day of water to his tank because it evaporates out so rapidly.
I'll try running the humidifier during the day and see if that helps things!
Hi! Have you considered that the problem might be that you may have some BS/ACV residues that may cause your hair to be static? Specially when the problem occurs in the same day or the day after washing your hair.
I guess I worded that part poorly...I was trying to say there is no pattern to when the static occurs and when I wash. I do a WO wash about every other day, and once a week I alternate between ACV and BS/ACV. Sometimes the static happens on the ACV or BS/ACV days, other times it happens on a WO day. Completely random.
I think what the other girl suggested is right on. With the way water evaporates out of my turtle tank, the fact that I'm running a space heater, and my cats' fur being staticky, it's quite obvious that I'm dealing with dry air. I was just so focused on figuring out what was wrong with my hair I didn't stop to think it was the environment, not the hair itself!
