No Hair

Hi, everyone.  I keep my head shaved, so the longest my hair ever gets is maybe 1/6th of an inch as stubble.  I've had scalp problems since I was a kid and it has come and gone, but since I started keeping my head shaved, it is now extremely noticable.  My head gets very dry and flaky and, not unlikely, itchy.  Also, if I am out in the sun, the ( Read more... )

If you've had these problems all your life, maybe it's worth talking to a dermatologist or a good hairdresser to find out if it's the fungus kind of dandruff or just a dry flaky scalp, or even something like psoriasis.

I used to have very inflamed scalp, itchy, dry and flaky.
Once I gave up the shampoo and started using white vinegar / baking soda rinses, it went away.

As the previous commenters said above, since you don't have a lot of hair.. you can skip the baking soda. 1 tablespoon of white vinegar w/ 1 cup water should do it.

Good luck and I hope your scalp clears up! I know how uncomfortable it can be. :-/

Hydrogen peroxide cleared up my scalp... Not natural, but a fairly simple compound and i've heard it's nicely biodegradable. i used 1 part hydrogen peroxide to five parts water, poured on my hair, left it for a bit and rinsed off. I only had to use it once, then once again a few weeks later when it started to flare up again, and now i barely have any flakiness. Since you don't have any hair, you probably won't need very much of this mix at all. Baking soda made it worse (i think because it's an alkali and the yeasties love alkaline environments), whereas the hydrogen peroxide is acidic and anti-bacterial.

If the itchiness is from a baterial or fungal source and you've tried the vinegar and tried three drops of Tea Tree Oil mixed into the rinse water or a TTO lotion, then Colloidal Silver is really good for topical applications. It has no color or flavor and dries like water. Get it at a Health Food store if you don't have any and apply it with a cotton ball or just spalsh a few drops on your scalp and rub it around a few times a day till the itchy flakes stop.

Leftover Colloidal Silver is great for your bathroom cabinet cause it works for rashes, infections, sore throats, on cuts and scrapes, etc.
