Clarice is outside. It's not a bad place to be, this time of year.

Plus, her deal with Caspian about exercising the horses has been a goddamn lifesaver.

She leaves the stables, brushing straw from her hair, and stops a minute by the lake.

It's been almost a week, and she still hasn't seen Cooper.

Maybe he did go home.

But that could only have been for what, a few days? And where did he go?

"I've been okay," she says after a moment.

A slight hesitation.

"A little worried about you, but pretty okay."
