Six Apart Chooses Omniture to Enhance Social Networking Platforms, presumably including LiveJournal. It says that J.T. Stephens is the "Director of Marketing at Six Apart", and used to work at Overstock.com. Scott Kraft's title on the staff page is "EVP Marketing". I think Scott Kraft, EVP is who pmmarcov said would be "joining Six Apart to head up ourRead more... )

I bet they both came from some less-than-stellar network, and that if gets booted, we'll have a bit of a rest before another incident slips through.

I'm not at all impressed with "Plagiarism Today". They don't seem to comprehend what RSS feeds are for.

Seconded. as an LJer who also blogs, one of the first thing I do with a new site is syndicate, and put a link to it prominent in my subscription options. Love the way they use Gaiman as am example of bad practise, he works closely with LJ to keep the feed working FFS, positive endorsement his end. When I'm active, LJ is my biggest referrer except Google, and any competent Blogger can give LJ a different feed if they want. Can't tell from my cell browser, does that site accept trackbacks?

They seem to - some of the entries on the comments thread seem to be trackbacks.

fwiw, i think he's still hashing through a lot of his own feelings on the subject. i'm hoping to meet up with jonathan, who runs the site, this week to kind of clear up what he expects vs. what we're doing. we did definitely screw up by not having our takedown emails working, but yeah... some of this is kind of RSS By Design.

man, i have worked with JT for a while and had *no idea* he was a Hardy Boy. :)

Scott's been with us a while, so I don't think that's what Patty was talking about -- in our company structure there's Marketing (which is PR, communications, branding, stuff like that) which Scott leads, and then a separate group for Sales (which is advertising, sponsorships, partnerships, etc.). Make sense?

Technically, we have two sales groups -- there's *another* sales group for business/enterprise stuff (like if you want Movable Type Enterprise or something) but that doesn't really have anything to do with LJ.

Hahaha, yeah, that link wouldn't've been included except that JT responded in the comments. There were essays of JT's that I was thinking of linking too, but decided they were too way out there, and didn't. But the Hardy Boy's post was the only way for me to know that the JT Stephen from Overstock was the JT Stephen working for 6A.

I didn't know whether that's who Patty was talking about--I was just wondering whether that was the position, and just trying to figure out who it was. Scott was new enough that I think he wasn't there last time I gave that page a good scouring, and EVP was close enough that I thought it might be a match.

Awww....I miss you guys too! Seriously. :-(

As Anil noted, Scott Kraft has been around. He started back when I did, but stayed and is still there under the new organizational structure of Six Apart. The new head of advertising sales is Mike Ayer; I'm not following along closely enough any more to know if he was ever formally introduced to the community or not. But you know you can always count on Anil and others at LJ/Six Apart to get you the answers to your questions and concerns as they come up.

It's been a really busy week for me but I just wanted to make sure I said thanks for this note and that it's good to see you again!

Anil manages the entire blogosphere that way! Is quite impressive, I watch it allatime.
