Grandma had been on life support since Thanksgiving. She'd gone in with pneumonia; she could barely talk, she was coughing so much. I'd talked to her a few weeks earlier to ask her about our family history, and she had been sick then, too ( Read more... )

I'm so sorry about your grandmother.

Seems like everyone I know is losing a grandparent these days. It's no fun.

Some people find that it's cold to keep a rational head on the shoulders during tough times, like the loss of a loved one.

I think it's easier when the rationalization allows you to bask in the memories of the person you're missing.

Times may get tough, but the memories will get you through it. If not, you know you have an army of people to turn to, Amelia.
