Actually, no! With the popularity of Loki, people started reading the old comics and found this gem. (Which of course ties into the... was it a Maury episode with the 15-yr-old girl? Anyway, it was parodied by South Park and I think SNL, etc. etc. and became an internet meme of sorts.) So THAT inspired the Tumblr craze - and then when Tom showed up on Twitter, people started to send him links to, ah, creative examples of that craze.

Which means he tweeted that line because HE KNEW IT WAS A ~THING IN FANDOM.

...okay, now I'm suddenly worried about how closely he reads his @replies. Ohhhhh, boy.
