We should have a viewing of The Lakes at some point, I think. It's the one major work of his that I haven't seen at all. And now that we've converted linaerys to the wonder that is The Simm in action, I'm sure we'd have a full house! ;)

It might take more than one day since it's a pretty long series, but it's worth it. The first ep opens with him naked in bed, so... you know. (But omg, he's so young!)

Yeah, even just a few episodes at the beginning would probably be fun. And then I can just get copies of the rest and gorge on them by myself. ;)

Oh, totally. I mean, just the first ep is FULL of sex scenes, not to mention other forms of delectable objectification! ;)

Heh! That's such a delicate way of putting it.

LOL - what can I say, I'm a delicate gal! It might be embarrassing to some if I mentioned all the panting. ;)

That's when it comes out on DVD, so I'm really impressed that Netflix is obtaining it immediately.

John Simm, bless his socks, has had too many sex scenes in this career to count on one hand. ;)

Oh, my dear, you've already sent me a ton of his work! Thank you for the offer, but I've recently found another source to pester for home-made DVDs. ;)

I've just skimmed the WGA summation of the proposed modifications, and what worries me is the lack of residuals on the first X days of streaming new TV episodes. Will the initial payment that covers those days before residuals kick in make up for the fact that pretty much all fans will have downloaded the episode within that window?

I saw that too. It's probably a compromise with the streaming video as promotional material point that the AMPTP has been making; as you know, strikes rarely end with deals that include everything requested.

Also, I seriously doubt that "pretty much all fans will have downloaded the episode within that window" because only a relatively tiny fraction of viewers in any given fandom, uh, consume television content the way we do. I think Internet-accessible TV content is a matter of convenience rather than timeliness for most users (for example, Netflix has been steadily increasing their selection of titles for streaming even though they already deliver DVDs to our door, because "click and watch" is clearly more effortless).

True, true. That seemed the weakest section in the contract, based on what little I know about payment structures and whatnot. (And, heh, yes, by "fans" I did mean "that percentage of viewers who must have everything immediately." I wonder if there are stats on download rates and populations; there must be, and they must have factored into those date decisions.)
