I know, I know. *eyes icon* Yep, exactly. It's just... well, I like to pick apart what works and how it works for me (and/or on me), especially when it feels like Special Hell.
Which, of course, means I'm planning to watch that scene many, many times.
Yep. Believe me, I know exactly how that one goes. (I also, um, kind of know huge chunks of "Pegasus" and "Resurrection Ship" by heart by now. And, oh! That one scene from "Exodus, Pt. II," with the knife and the kissing and the wall. I don't know what freaks me out more -- that Cylon snuff porn is canon in my fandom or that I liked it.)
Yeah...we can hitchhike there together. I had the same reaction. And the same shame. But I do absolutely think you're right. If Jo were the star of the show and Sam were the MOTW, that scene were have been terrifying and stomach-turning. It's just the contrast of the sweet Sammy we know and love acting like an animal unleashed that...*slinks away*
Oh, Lenore - yes. So true! You know, I keep comparing it to Sheppard in "Conversion" and how his moment with Teyla didn't really squick me; I think it's mostly because we've seen Teyla kick his ass several times in the past, so on some level I knew she'd be able to fight him off. Jo's tough, but not Teyla-tough.
Still, Sammy was... guh. My knees get a little wobbly whenever I think of him in that scene. OMGSOHOT.

See icon for at least one excellent reason why.
