Someone is, although she doesn't notice the laughter at first. Elizabeth had her nose in a sheaf of paperwork meandering her way back from Carson's lab when she overhears someone cheerfully laughing.

She turns the corner to see John, and no one nearby.

A smile in greeting. "Did I miss the joke, John?"

Sheppard straightens up, letting out a bit of cough. "Just remembering something funny." He returns the smile-it's good to be able to talk again, without having to rely on something else to make himself understood.

"It's one of those things that pop up at weird times."

All right, so he's lying. But fudging things is easier than explaning a bar at the end of the universe and voice-stealing monsters.

Possibly, yes. Weir still has enough of a problem with life-sucking monsters, let alone voice-stealing ones.

"Well then. I suppose I should...leave you to it, then? You have a mission briefing in," as she checks her watch, "an hour and a half."

Elizabeth turns on her heel, about to leave.

Sheppard shakes his head, stepping away from the wall. "Nah. I feel kinda like hanging around people."

This is the first chance he's had to chat in a while, after all.

"Another mission briefing, huh? Do I get any hints on who'll be shooting at us today?"
