The Park, Morning

Stepping out of the shadows, the stranger's head turned slowly, his black eyes taking in the surroundings. Then he took another step and his eyes turned normal, but there was still a lack of warmth. With a sudden, too fast movement, almost like a bird, he took position on a nearby bench.

There was a boy with a dog.

Depending on the way one was looking, you could say that either the boy was walking the dog, or the dog was walking the boy. Being Fandom, the latter wouldn't even have been the most preposterous of assumptions.

As for Jeff, well, he just wasn't sure. "No, Nana, don't-- are you certain you're a female dog?"

Local monkeys sometimes knew enough to be useful. Zophael's eyes followed the boy, unblinking, from the bench.

It was also a pretty normal occurance for Jeff to feel watched. This did not mean he had adapted to the notion, mind, and as soon as he felt something pricking in his back, he froze up, hyperventilated, attempted to move, froze up again, and finally just kind of helplessly moved his head to look over his shoulder.

Even Nana paused, but possibly for reasons that involved duck poo on the ground.

"You're local?" Zophael asked, unsmiling. The monkey seemed unusually nervous. Perhaps that was the reason for the dog.

Adah had woken up obscenely early that morning, all thanks to the little ball of fluff that was currently rooting around for the bits of carrot and lettuce that Adah had scattered around the base of the tree she was leaning on. It all started with a nibble on the ear, which she was sure had been a vaguely amusing scene at first, considering she'd assumed the nibbling was coming from a very, very different source, until the nibbling turned into a very distinct and painful bite; even just thinking about it, she gingerly moved her hand up to check and see if it was still bleeding. All those times Rachel begs and pleaded to be allowed to get her ears pierced, and here all she needed to do was get a damn rabbit ( ... )

It was early, and it seemed like the monkeys here liked sleeping. When Zophael noted the girl and the rabbit, his senses registering the movement, he turned his head slowly, his eyes changing from black to normal brown. With a swift movement and a few strides he was standing next to her.

Although her eyes remained up and seemingly only for the movement of clouds in the dullness of breaking day, a tightening of her shoulder (the good one) and a slight intake of breath were indications given that she had been aware that someone who wasn't there a second ago was there now. She lowered her head, toward the sounds of Bob's incisors breaking apart carrots into more digestible bits, but offered no other further sign of paying the other person any attention.

"I'm looking for Gabriel," Zophael said. He didn't like being ignored. As the rabbit seemed to have the girl's attention and be her focus of interest, his gaze shifted towards the animal, placing his foot next to it. "Adah Price," he added. That was simple enough, for an angel.

Mary was out running errands, most of which were wedding related. That put her in a really good mood. She smiled at the stranger.

Zophael did not smile back. He was getting impatient with the monkeys around here. "I'm looking for Gabriel," he snapped, rising from the bed and approaching Mary.

"Oh, are you a friend of Gabriel's? How nice! I didn't know he had any friends outside of this place," said Mary. "Of course, he obviously had to be somewhere else before coming here, so I'm sure he had ample opportunity to make friends."

There was a hint of a smile. "We're... family. He's a friend of yours?" The question was meant as ironic.
