[Open] Girls's night out

Tenten fitted the shirt on with a smile. Her friends had definitely picked this out and told her father to buy it. It was down to her knees and in a traditional Chinese cut made of a pure black silk adorned with a dragon that wrapped itself around her body. It was sleeveless, which would be perfect back home at this time of year. Considering ( Read more... )

Soi Fong heard the knock and stood slowly, putting down her mug of tea as she did so. Two braids were tucked forward while the rest of flowed down her back in a mess of tangles she never bothered with. She'd been playing the thought of her cutting it, anyway.

She'd been ready for hours, worrying and worrying that maybe she'd gotten the time wrong, or that maybe she was wearing the wrong clothes. Maybe. Ma-

The door opened with that loud creak that Soi Fong was only painfully aware of when guests were around. Taking in Tenten and her beautiful shirt, she felt so plain. Even in China she had given up her traditional clothing for the urban look, which translated into the western look. All she had on underneath her jean jacket was a black V neck and she'd managed to find a clean pair of jeans.

Still, she pasted on a stiff smile, and welcomed her inside. "Ah, there you are," she said in a smooth chinese as she stepped back. "Would you like some tea?"

What was she doing? Standing here, watching the other woman openly defy the rules and regulations, she felt torn. There was the little lawyer on her shoulder, scolding her for not stopping Tenten. Just because she worked with the laws didn't mean that she personally didn't embrace them. Others might use their knowledge to find loopholes, but that had never appealed to Soi Fong.

Then why did she follow? Why did she give in to the normally subdued little girl on her shoulder? Well, because she was curious. She indulged the latter of her muses, who was fun-loving and dead bored of the monotony lawyer-Soi brought to life. Soi Fong was looking to finally escape that little box she'd housed herself in.

"I don't think they'll be dumb enough to believe that." Her words were followed by a small nervous laugh.

Tenten shot a smile over her shoulder. "We could always take the 'don't speak English approach but..." She wrinkled her nose to show her disagreement with that one.

"Besides, remember our gang plan. Your the one that has to get us out of trouble," she smiled. She paused a second and listened for the drone of the crowd.

"This way," she said, jogging towards the noise and suddenly right into the chest of a rather burly looking security guard.

No matter how flustered she might feel, Soi Fong just never would show it. The prosecution could smell the fear quite like a dog might, so she'd had to learn to take 'flustered' out of her vocabulary.

Still, there was something just inherently frightening about large men, at least in her perspective. The secret was to pretend that it was physically possible to look down on him, she just didn't wish to. Her hand flew to push Tenten behind her somewhat, and she pushed herself as close to the stranger as she dared, her expression showing nothing but her complete exasperation.

"Excuse us."

Tenten immediately took her place next to Soi. Wow, she was good. The security guard looked a bit confused, as if he was trying to figure out why he was the one in the wrong suddenly.

There was a glower, a moment more of silence and finally he just pointed towards a door, back towards the music.

A curt nod, one that showed the obvious distaste she held for this man. Who did he think he was, acting as if he had any power over them, her expression said loudly. Soi Fong could manipulate if she wanted it; she could twist things until you saw things her way. These weren't skills she was ashamed of or proud of, they just were.

Holding her head up high, confidence in every stride, she led Tenten by the arm towards the source of the music, loud and rambunctious and wholly appealing.

((ooc : sorry for the delay, was sick))

Tenten bounded behind her, a proud smile displayed as they crashed into the center of the bar. The place was already packed and there was just enough room at the bar to order a drink.

Tenten screamed out an order and ended up getting two strange looking drinks instead. She sniffed them and shrugged, handing one to Soi and dropping some money on the bar.

The cacophony paused for a moment and Tenten almost got a word in but the main act was announced and the place was lost under the fan girl screams before being overwhelmed by a heavy set of music.

Soi Fong took the drink, more out of politeness than anything else. She really didn't drink if at all possible, even when it was socially acceptable. She'd known family members and acquaintances with liver problems, sickly and regretting. She'd known people who let all hell break loose bottle after bottle, and their family suffered for it.

Instead, she let the music flow through her, making her head throb and her heart beat faster, chest aching. She could feel that steady, rapid beat brushing against her again and again, and she liked it. She liked the jarring, discordant sounds. She caught Tenten's eye, and nodded as she smiled slightly to show her approval.

Tenten's smile beamed as she started to bop to the music. It was loud, it was intense and it was like fire in the blood. She put her glass down and let her arms work themselves free into the air.

The agreed upon motion from the crowd appeared to be a rhythmic pulse of the hand in the air with a matching head bop. That was easy enough to do.

She got a bit into it and shot Soi a happy glance as she started to dance.

The beat, it was nothing more than that for Soi Fong. She had no skill in rhythm, nor did she have any particular control over the movements of her body. She left dancing to those that excelled at it and opted for watching the others instead. Moving with their idiosyncrasies, all one mass of head-banging and swaying, Soi Fong felt a slight relief at being apart, even amid this crowd.

She almost put her hand on Tenten's arm to thank her, but pulled back at the last second. She'd tell her later. It really had been too long since she'd enjoyed herself this much.
