Yoruichi couldn't help but reflect on Jyuushirou's words describing his situation at work as she walked up the steps of the small but respectable looking clinic. Judging by the fact that, at least based on an outside glance, only one office was lit up, she couldn't imagine Jyuushirou being as busy as he said was. Either Sunday happened to be an exceptionally slow day at the clinic, or Jyuushirou was using his job as a reprieve for privacy. Yoruichi shrugged to herself. She certainly wouldn't begrudge him the right to time of his own, especially since she imagined that certain roommates of his might make solitude somewhat hard to aquire when needed. Thinking on all that made her feel slightly apprehensive about just showing up, but she there anyway. Yoruichi stood at the door for a moment longer, enjoying the heat the bag in her arms was raidiating in the frigid weather.

And I brought dinner too. It wouldn't surprise me if he forgot to eat. With that thought in mind she opened the door and stepped in. Looking down the dimly lit hallway ( ... )

For a few moments, Jyuushirou hadn't even heard the knocking. So absorbed was he in the silence of his solitude that the sounds hadn't even registered til much later. Even then, the most he did was lift his head slightly, blinking at the door where the somewhat unfamiliar sound was coming from.

For a brief, panicking moment, he thought perhaps Chizuru had shown up, to keep true to her threats of dragging him out.

But then he realized if it was Chizuru, she would have broken the door down by then.

So relaxing a bit, and thinking it was probably the janitor come to empty his trashbin, Jyuushirou sat up a little straighter, lifting a hand to push silver bangs from his face. "Come in."

"That I will." Yourichi said as she walked easily into his office. She didn't take the combonation of surprise, desire to flee, and something else she couldn't quite name as offense. It was just his way. Yoruichi stood in front of his desk, setting the food on the edge of his desk before blowing a strand of her hair out of her face and smiling at him.

"I hope I'm not keeping you from providing valuable counsel to others." Yoruichi let a hint of teasing enter her voice. "In which case I hope you'll accept great Chinese takeout as a bribe. Still hot too, amazingly enough. You'd think with the wind outside it would have frozen before I got to the clinic door."

He certainly was surprised. In fact the moment his eyes landed on her familiar face he'd tensed, his entire body suddenly ready to just jump up and run past her. But she was blocking the door, dammit, and the sudden waft of what had to be delicious takeout reached his nostrils-- he was effectively trapped.

He had the grace to flush a bit at her teasing words, though, lips pursing in his embarrassment.

He opened his mouth for the usual excuse, but, seeing as how she was right there, he couldn't really fall back on good ol' "I'm simply much too busy, sorry" line. Damn.

Sighing, he absently ran another hand through his long hair. "Have a seat," he murmured in defeat, motioning vaguely to the chair beside her. He sighed inwardly. Maybe, if he ate as hungry as he felt, it would all be over in no time.
