[Special 006: Voice] Request

Mar 21, 2011 07:32

[Today Ami has a somewhat odd request, or perhaps not so odd as the picture window suggests she's making the post from the clinic. And since this will be needed essentially permanently, it's best to ask about a new one.]I'll also look, but does anyone know of a wheelchair in good condition that someone could use? Failing that, I know a lot of ( Read more... )

[Robert's curious about this statement and the fact she's broadcasting from the clinic. Does Ami have a friend in trouble?]

A wheelchair? [Such devices, while still ancient, have been refined in Robert's time and he recognizes the terminology.] Is there someone here who is having difficulty walking, perhaps from the draft? Or is that person differently-abled in some manner?

[He makes a sort of sad noise at the mention of the draft, but doesn't really comment. Having had time to think about it, he discovered that the idea of Ami fighting didn't bother him as much as it should have. It... did, in a way, but... she was fighting for... a reason? She was helping people, anyway. And at least she didn't enjoy the battles.]

... Oh, I spoke to Rupert Giles myself, and he did mention you. Such an exceedingly informative and eloquent individual. [If a little odd due to being from a magical world... but it's like Helios. That's something Robert can relate to.

The rest gives him some pause before he continues.] And Usagi-chan... Ah, I remember ( ... )

This will just help her to be able to get around more easily. [read: confidentiality.] I know some people who are very handy, but I don't want to make them feel pressured, so I thought if I asked this way, just someone interested in helping could offer, maybe.

[She falls silent a moment, but plunges ahead.]

I'm glad to see Usagi-chan. She's from a world very slightly different from mine, but it's still her, so I'm happy. I just wish it wasn't here.

[That makes sense, and Robert nods.] I understand, Doctor Mizuno - a perfectly logical and indeed ethical request. I hope that your friend will be able to find a well-designed means of transport to aid her in the village... This may require some refurbishment of her living spaces, though. Perhaps someone ought to see about constructing ramps or elevators for her as well?

Ah, so she is from another multiversion of your world...? Most fascinating. It is indeed a shame that we are still trapped here... but, I must say, I have learned so many things and met so many wonderful people here [- and Robert's voice goes almost... fluttery there -] that I would not wish to revoke them.

Still, it would indeed be better to be at home, most likely... just, it would also be nice if there were some method of taking people to other multiverses from here as well.

I could say the same. I sort of started making more friends here. Maybe that helped me, and that's why it was a little easier at home later on, too.

That would make some sense, if you remembered any of it... perhaps even subconsciously.

It is why I hope to endeavour towards some sort of solution to the problem of the villagers being unable to leave Luceti. If there is some way that we can find a solution to that, then it seems that visiting other worlds from here is the next logical step.

[He seems thoughtful a moment before continuing.]

Would you require any sort of technological assistance with your friend, by the way? I know several technologically-inclined individuals, such as Mr. Japan, who might be able to assist in the creation of any devices she might need to negotiate the village... That is assuming the technology exists here, but of course it could perhaps be manufactured.

I've been told the former clinic may still have an old one. However, I'd like the best I can give her. Maybe a new one is in order.

Between the technological experts here and those who are skilled in metalworking, it might be entirely possible to construct something like a motorized wheelchair, or a lift to assist her in climbing stairs. Do you happen to know what building she lives in, if she does live in any of them? If you do, it may be prudent to see about converting part of the building for an elevator addition. Honestly, I don't see why the Malnosso didn't consider the possibility of differently-abled residents... Then again, they had no qualms taking someone's prosthetic arm off before. [Robert snorts derisively.]

What about the other buildings in Luceti? Will she be able to access them, or will they also need adjustments?

She doesn't have a house, really.

[Since she, you know, lives in the water.]

We'll figure out where she'll live, and go from there. So far, she's gotten around by her friends helping her. This will already lessen that difficulty. We can begin working on building modifications if the chair turns out to work well.

You are very practical, Doctor Mizuno... I understand the interests of confidentiality, but may I ask if she is a New Feather or not? I have yet to see anybody here who is visibly differently-abled, and should I come across her, I would like to provide whatever assistance I could.

[Robert actually hasn't met Keimi yet - he would've instantly been interested in her, due to the fact she's a non-human sapient, if he had.]

I am glad that she already has assistance though, especially from yourself.

[He probably wouldn't have known; she's careful about the secret, which is why Ami is. Right now, she considers more basic confidentiality; she shouldn't be discussing details of any 'patient' with someone. Yet in this case, she can be vague enough.]

She arrived somewhat recently, yes.

Ah, that makes sense then. Perhaps she is such a new occurrence that the Malnosso have not had time to adjust to the necessities that such a body would require.

Or perhaps they are just being short-sighted - or even deliberately cruel. That is not beyond them.

The Malnosso usually leave us to take care of ourselves. But, it's fine like that, isn't it?

I suppose it is better than the alternative of them attempting to micromanage every facet of our existence... but one would think that they would at least be able to account for the needs of different people. [He shrugs slightly to himself.]

We have nowhere near as many rights here as we should... but that is the Malnosso for you.

Mm. [She keeps her answer neutral, because the real answers aren't things she'll say.]

[It's a dismissive sound, one that Robert doesn't know how to deal with well. After a beat, he makes a thoughtful little noise.]

... At any rate, I hope things are going well enough for you. It has been some time since we last spoke, on the fifth. [There's some remaining... awkwardness? Well, he doesn't know. He can't really tell, but he hopes that there isn't really any... discomfort there, on her end. Or his.

He wishes he could tell emotions better.]

Everything is fine. [It always is, after all. Always.]

[She switches to a quick filter, 100% of course.]

We're planning a party for Usagi-chan now that she's here. Will you come?
