The empty space seemed to go on forever. That was what got Lee the most. He'd never been anywhere with this much empty space. Every way he turned, he could only see grass rippling in the gentle breeze, going on forever, right up to the snow-capped mountains in the distance, shrouded in clouds.
It made him feel very small.
Until Kara put her hand on his shoulder.
"What do you think?" she asked, in that voice she had of barely-contained excitement. Her eyes were sparkling.
"It's amazing," he said. It was really the only thing he could say. The only thing it could be was amazing.
"Which way do you want to go first?" He noted that she had decided she was going with him without even asking. It simply went unsaid. And he was glad of it.
