My No-poo success story!! Don't give up!!!

Hey Guys! I know i put allot of tags, but I have had some ups and downs (including that terrible waxy feel) and wanted to make sure my post got to everyone who had the same probs as I did. I also put bold lettering on specific problems to make it easier to read. :) I am no-poo for... 3 months? now. I am absolutely LOVEING it!!! I have a little longer then shoulder length, board straight, fine, medium brown hair, very oily (I used to have to wash it EVERY DAY and it was oily again with in 12 hours or less). When I first started I had just dyed my hair darker and had gotten highlights that were about half way grown out about a year before. My hair was VERY dried out. I had SO many SPLIT ENDS. My hair CRUNCHED when i squeezed it. I was ready for a change. I missed my healthy, happy hair!! I did some re-search and found the no-poo stuff and decided to try it.

I started out using 1tbs BS to 8oz water and 1tbs ACV to 8oz water.

I only used the BS on my scalp and the ACV on the ends of my hair.

The first time I tried it i really, really liked my hair. It was so soft and light feeling!! My transition period only lasted about 2 weeks, which surprised me allot cause of how oily my hair is. I stretched out my washing days by adding cornstarch or baby powder, brushing it from scalp to end, and sucking it up and putting it in a ponytail. I Loved how much healthier it was already feeling!! I also like the fact that its ALOT CHEEPER THEN SHAMPOO!!

I started to have a few problems with my hair having allot of  static, like when you rub a balloon on it? I did my re-search tho and found this was caused by to much BS so i messed a round with my BS to water ratio and ended up pretty much cutting my BS in half. Which fixed it. :)

Like I said also my hair was VERY DRY to start out with so I added 1tsp of Honey to my ACV.
I also messed around with a few All natural hair masks.
The first one I tried was 1tbsp olive oil, 1tbs ACV and 2tbs Honey. I heated it slightly then masaged it on my scalp an then the rest of my hair concentrating on the ends an then left it for thirty minutes (you can leave it for however you want). This hair mask is actally what first lead me to find no-poo. It worked REALLY WELL. My hair was really soft and shiny with no tangles. But I tried it again after I went no-poo and had a TERRIBLE time trying to get the olive oil out :/ I ALMOST used shampoo to get it out. :o But instead i sucked it up an put it in a pony tail. :p It didn't LOOK bad just REALLY shiny. and Felt oily.
So I did some re-search and found a yogurt mask. Which worked WOUNDERS!! It made my hair so soft and shiny and light and amazing feeling!! I couldn't stop petting it!! And it came out ALOT easier then the olive oil. Yogurt works as a GREAT moisturizer as well as it adds healthy fats and proteins which makes your hair stronger and healthier. It also is great if you have Dandruff or an Itchy Scalp. The first time I put it on my whole head, left it for 30 minutes (you can leav it as long as you want) an then washed it with my BS and ACV rinse, but this made the top of my head a little oily, but nothing i couldn't live with for a few days. If you don't have an itchy scalp or dandruff tho you don't really NEED it on your whole head. now I started just doing it on the bottom half of my hair, concentrating on the ends.
You can pretty much add anything you want to it to get added benefits, including (but not limited to): Avocado, nutmeg, ground cloves, honey, bananas. Play around with it an see what you like best!! :D

I started messing around with things to Natural darken hair. I have done both Coffee rinses, as well as, Tea rinses.
I haven't done a whole ton with these but when i did do them a couple times in a row my hair was noticeably darker.
for the Coffee rinse I just brewed a pot of coffee let it cool and then poured it over my entire head, using a ladle, let it sit for 30 minutes (you can leave it as long as you want) and then rinsed well. I saved what ran off in a bowl an re-used it a couple times. (don't keep it to long tho or it will get musty smelling) :p
I did the same thing with Rasberry Tea Rinse which gave it an added red tint! Both of these also Smelled amazing and made my hair really soft.

So the first month or two my hair was doing great. I loved how much healthier it had gotten, it was growing faster, my dry ends were gone, my split ends were mostly gone. But I very rarely had that happy soft shiny feel I was getting when i first started. The few times I still got this happy feel was after I did the Tea or Coffee rinses. As I kept going I was getting this Waxy, Dusty, Soap scummy, Weird Build up in my hair. It was terrible. At first it was livable, but it was slowly getting worse. I tried adjusting my ratios but nothing worked. I really did not want to quit. So I did more re-search and FINALY I found someone who adressed
Hard Water apparently when you have hard water (which living in Florida I do) The minerals in your water mix with the baking soda
and cause it to create that build up. Some people found that making the baking soda mix with either boiled water or distiled water instead of tap water fixed it. Other people bought a Filter for the shower head. Boiling didn't work for me however, I didn't try distilled water and I cant afford a filter. So I decided it wasn't fixable and maybe it would eventually go away. I tried to stick it in a pony tail and suck it up. but it was just getting worse and then last week it was to the point of unbearable. It was an itchy, sticky, gross, mess. I almost quit!! I grabbed my leftover shampoo and conditioner and was on my way to wash my hair when I decided to re-search one more time. My hair had gotten so much healthier I really didn't want to give up!! That's when I found the Egg wash.
Either using egg yolk, egg white or the whole egg. I had heard before about how eggs are really good for your hair, but I had always been grossed out by the thought of putting them in my hair... But I decided I was ready to try anything to get the sticky buildup out of my hair.

And it worked wonders!!! It not only got it out but it also left my hair softer, shinier, and lighter feeling then it has EVER been before!! If this is what i have been working to get to for 2 and a half months it was well worth it!!!!!!! My split ends are compleatly gone!!!!! My hair isn't at all dry. Its soft shiny and amazing feeling. It doesn't frizz ever (which is saying ALLOT since I live in Florida where it is ALWAYS humid!!) and I don't ever have to straighten it. I love it.

What I did: one egg, OR two egg yolks OR two egg whites.
The first time I just used two egg yolks. Poured it first over the top of my head then the ends. lathered it up rinsed it out then followed with a ACV rinse. (Make sure when rinsing the egg out not use hot water or you will have scrambled eggs in your hair)

The second time I used The whole egg. same thing.

The yolk was a little oilier, then the whole egg, but I liked them both. Eggs are packed filled with protein and nutrients are a great moisturizer, will help make your hair thicker, grow faster, it helps prevent hair loss, it makes it stronger, healthier and extremely  shiny!!

So this is the story of my No-poo journey. I am dabbling some with tea rinses which I have liked in the past but never used on their own. I hope no one fell asleep wile reading this, and I hope I convert some to no-poo and convince others who think they want to quit to preserver!!

My name is Tiffany, I am a firm believer in no-poo, and I support this message!!
