Title: First Impressions and Actual Meeting
Fandom: Transformers Generation 1 cartoon 07/09 movie verse because I failed at spot the Red Alert in season 1 of the cartoon.
Rating: K
Characters/Pairings: Red Alert, Dinobots (Though only Grimlock and Slag have any lines in this little thing)
Warnings: Unbeta'd, first time writing any Dinobots
Summary: Red Alert had heard things about the Dinbots, so he thought he knew what to expect.

=====================================================

The first time Red Alert had become aware of the Dinobots, was in a quick garbled transmission from Smokescreen who had been in the advance team sent to make contact with the long thought to be lost Ark. The message having made him quirk a ridge in his faceplate, right above his left eye if he recalled, up a bit at the normally easy going and conniving mech to swear in frustration about them. Until Teletraan-1 had sent a brief note when he was deep diving into the systems of Axiom as a favor to the ship and Springer, that Smokescreen was annoyed because he was used to dealing with complicated bots and the Dinobots were very…simple in their wants and thoughts. The reports from Prowl clearly and in that to the point manner citing the various conflicts that had been caused by, worsened, or salvaged by the simplistic outlook of the group when he had been given the order to come down and reconfigure the security system to fit the atmosphere and environment of the planet the Ark and its mech were stationed on.

It had painted a grim picture to the Security Director, as he had already been dreading dealing with that group (There was a reason he had managed to duck out of being part of the team and remaining on Cybertron, and it involved the level of his sanity!) and forcing them to follow security protocols they had all forgotten during their time in stasis. So the reports of the Dinobots just made him feel that much more resigned to spending his duty hours fixing cameras and trying to keep the security breaches to a bare minimum. Which was how he ended up, not more then a cycle on that planet staring up at the large frames of the reported primitive and destructive set of five.

“Why you Red Alert have to do that?”

So far he hadn’t been mauled, trampled, or really disrespected by them; and he was used to a condescending tone from most everyone who took his job for granted and never thought so he didn’t even feel a bit put out by the tone.

“Because if a Decepticon did ever get in the Ark I can see such and send the alarm so you all won’t get deactivated in your sleep, and probably be able to stomp all over the ‘con that decided to sneak in this close to your hallway.”

The thoughtful silence had him edging a bit away, before he shook his head and once more began to attempt fixing the camera into an angle to get not only the corner but the majority of the hallway in one shot, and the rest of that hallway section when it would pan around. So when the growled response did come he nearly dropped his tools and had to fight from physically rebooting his audios, just to make certain he heard correctly.

“Me Grimlock think you Red Alert are right. You call us to stomp any them Decepticons that get in.”

“Me Slag crush them, you Red Alert let us do it.”

“…I’ll do that. In fact if you promise not to break any of my cameras I’ll make certain you get to be the ones to fight any Decepticons that try and get in. Even before the twins and Ironhide.”

The almost serious tone this all took as Grimlock nodded at this, as if they had just done a very important negotiation almost made him want to laugh at it all. He only stopped himself because he didn’t want to hurt the dinobot leader’s feelings as they were still watching him even as he finally turned back to adjust the camera one last time, and finally retreat to check the monitor. Deep down he knew there would probably be some reason for him to get frustrated with that group as everyone else seemed to have found, but for now he was just going to tell Inferno he had acquired first response soldiers to a security breech, and the fire truck would never guess who they were.
