Some days just aren't very upbeat. Don't get me wrong, it's not being grouchy about the cold shower this morning(water-lines are getting fixed), or the exam tonight, or two essays due tomorrow. It's really not anything to do with life in general right now, which I'm not complaining about at all. But still, getting to spend a day mulling over ( Read more... )

For research on this essay (or even if you don't have to research it, it's a good read anyway.), grab a copy of a book called 'The Faces at the Bottom of the Well' and read the very last chapter. I had to read it for a Sociology class. . .basically, it's about what would happen if aliens came to earth and said 'OK, we'll cure all your diseases and get rid of your debt for you, create for you a Utopian society, and all we want is all your black people.' It's interesting.

in my culture class, we got copies of all sorts of articles on white privilege.

You should look up such people as Frances E. Kendall, Robert Jensen, Gregory Jay, and Kendall Clark. They wrote a lot on the issue of racism.
