NnoiNel Manifesto Mark 2
by femmelujah

Largely a response to several doubts, and aging nearly 3 years, I have made some addendums to my opinions and felt some things about NNoiNel needed to be restated as well as redone.

And so it begins..again! )

nnoinel, manifesto

Too tired to read it all now, but I am glad you wrote this. It was your first manifesto that really made me pay attention to Nnoinel, so I guess it will be like going through that process again? XD

I must admit that at first, I did oppose the idea of Nnoinel - I treated myself to Bleach spoilers and briefly read their history, and from that instance I though "there'll be more to these two", but I couldn't bring myself to really like them I suppose.

Canon or not they are one of the most interesting ships in Bleach and I wouldn't give up shipping them for anything. ♥

I fail to see how Nnoitra is dead. Especially when Nel is there to heal him.

Two things,

How powerful is Nel's healing as a child?

and why would Nel deprive him of the death he's always wanted?

Kubo said Nnoitra doesn't feel dead to him, therefore alive. If the author believes a character still has to contribute in the plot then certain restrictions can be overlooked. Nel's healing saliva is said to be weak, but Kubo can easily say that it's enough to heal Nnoitra's wounds, even if barely.

And Nel is a child at this moment. She won't hesitate to heal him because of Nnoitra's desire to die in battle, simply because she will do what she feels it's right to do. She obviously remembers him after reverting to a child, so it's a given that she will at least try to approach him, then heal him. Will it be another display of pity on Neliel's behalf? No, it will be more like an act of compassion, so Nnoitra might start seeing things from a different aspect.

They're the only two espada confirmed to be alive, there's a reason for it, and there's definitely a lot more to be disclosed betweem them.

Incorrect, he did not state that he felt Nnoitra was alive. He felt Nnoitra hadn't received the proper closure. There's absolutely nothing to imply Kubo thinks he has to live. In fact, several Espada he said had more of a story but Nel is a proper vessel for such a story. You're just misinterpreting what Kubo said for your own gain.

What you're saying, while a pleasant thought, is just wishful thinking you demand be thought of as canon. The simple truth is there is nothing to imply Nel would bring him back, and if she remembers him then she would recall his feelings. I'm not saying I don't want it to happen, but the simple fact is there's nothing to suggest what you're saying is true and the manga supports what I have said. I even mentioned what Kubo said in this essay. The fact is, we saw Nnoitra die right there and saw that this was his wish. It's just wishful thinking to feel otherwise.

But hey, if you turn up right I'm not complaining. I'm just saying it's not very likely and has no back up.

You rock my world, girl. You are such a Nnoi expert and I hated the guy so much once but now I love him--and NnoiNel too partly thanks to your enthusiasm (and those last chapters, gaaaah, and that last look, heh). Thank you so much for writing this and posting on my comm and now I'm going to read it again because you and Kubo whet my appetite for the return of these two. <3

I hope Kubo gives Nnoi the proper closure. I can hope in my heart of hearts he'll be alive but if I'm pessimistic, I won't be disappointed..t_T

What I love most, aside from your valid points and insight, is how you pointed out the difference between UlquiHime and NnoiNel. UlquiHime could have developed into something more, could have been a learning process, and in a way it was a learning experience for Ulquiorra and Orihime, partly. I'm a major UlquiHime fan, and when I read that I smiled inside. Truthfully, I didn't see a spec of love or possible love at all when I read it. Really, I wasn't looking for it. I was just reading the chapters, but I did see the dynamics and that is what got me into it. It's dark, there's no love, but there is "something".

This was entertaining and informing! I love it. :)
