I'm just finishing off the first draft of my thesis. It's nearly all there, but will require many revisions. The one thing I'm having difficulty on is my acknowledgements
( Read more... )
I don't think you're obligated to acknowledge somebody you hate, especially if they didn't contribute in any specific tangible way to the work in your thesis.
I suggest reading other people's thesis acknowledgments for ideas about what to say about your girlfriend. Plus, it's usually more fun than reading the thesis.
In my undergrad thesis I wrote, "Thanks to [my boyfriend-at-the-time] for his emotional support," which was a euphemism.
the only thing that came to my mind after reading ur aknowledgement was that " does yor advisor let you write such thing?" morover, it seems that you just want to show your anger. but enough is enough.
Chillax! My advisor lets me write what I want, its my acknowledgements after all. I also didn't want to include anything negative, it was just an ettiquete question. In the end I went with "Thanks to Emily for everything"
It's amazing, I'm having the exact same difficulty. I lived with my previous partner for 10 years and she really did help me through some of the toughest parts of my thesis. Unfortunately we split (I feel no anger towards her, it was my decision).
I have currently: ...and my partner and parents for putting up with a string of trips around the country, lost weekends, and odd working hours, and for all their support during my studies.
I've no idea how to edit it, and actually found your Journal blog whilst trying to "Google" my dilema.
Good luck with your write upo btw, I'm into year 2 but I'm working full-time, I'm on Thesis V21, I hope to submit next month!
