Olympics

So everyone is posting about the Olympics over on FB and I cannot move myself to give a damn or to even feign interest. It's like basketball season in Louisville, but on a world stage. Everyone's all excited and I'm like, oh, is it that time again ALREADY? Wake me when the winter ones come and there's ice dancing.

ROFL, I will pretty much watch ANY Olympics. This is the only time I even notice some sports, the only time I *can* see others without going way out of my way (rugby, for example), and there are only a couple where I just don't give a shit no matter what (basketball and soccer. They are stupid no matter who is playing them or where, except SOMETIMES Premiere League football and that's just because some of the players are hot and sometimes an interesting riot breaks out. Also because it's fun to shit on Man U. Basketball, however...dumb. Always and forever no matter who's playing it.)

I remember I used to love the Olympics. This year, I didn't watch any of it, and couldn't get excited about much of what I read in my twitter feed. Granted, I almost never watch TV anymore, and I was at work when they showed the prime time coverage, but still. The only time I had the tv on the last few weeks was to turn on the news after I heard about the riots in Milwaukee (on BBC news after work one night), since I'm there right now. Amazing how there can be so much turmoil in one area of a city and crickets elsewhere.
