I often wonder...how do you define good music? why is that all pop songs automatically considered not so good music? you wont hear people list them as example if asked about the best something song they ever heard. There are common perception that listening to Indie songs mean you are cool, and if you listen to pop songs, then you are cheesy.

Yeah, that's a good question...
Good music I think that it's defined as "something rare" and "not something that everyone listen to"... because if you keep listening at radio or tv you're not looking for your own music, but simply getting what the market puts on you.
Or maybe this is what someone can think :D

I personally had to search a lot in order to listen Arashi, as I'm Italian and here there are no news about Japanese Music :D

Talking about Arashi, personally I don't like very much their first albums, even if sometimes my shuffle takes out something good that I wasn't expecting ;)
I've been an Arashi fan for only one year but I've listened their fully discography and I can say that the best albums are One and Time.
So... timeline speaking, not so old yet not so new XD

But I think that My Girl is really a good single (better than others like Everything) so I don't know what are thinking people who say that it's no good °_°
