I remember being at a friend's house once. He was making a phone call for some reason, and realized that he had dialed a wrong number. So he left a prank message on the wrong number's machine, and hung up. I was horrified at this, and wanted to know why he would do such a cruel thing. I think you have some really good thoughts here. I was wondering what was up with the other post, and I'm glad you elaborated on it here.
Thanks for making me think, and on good things to think about. It is so sad how people can be cruel, and I've never understood it. Now I guess I can, a little. It's probably because I'm a pretty passionate person, and to have so little passion as to deride something that is important to someone just never occurred to me.
It reminds me of serial killers, those people who have no sense of empathy... they just think cruel things... are funny. Doesn't matter if it's the flies you're picking the wings off, or a human being.
Thanks for illuminating too the motivations of people whose political opinions I disagree with strongly. I see your point now, at least some people are defending the things that they see as threatening. I'm a little more inclined to understand that, being as how I once held the opposite opinions of what I do now.
