recently, charlie and i have been having a discussion about how there really are NO good movies coming out anymore. we saw "crank" yesterday, and it was entertaining, but entertaining doesn't necessarily = good, and this certainly wouldn't be classified as good by any means. more of a good-for-what-it-was type of thing ( Read more... )

It's true...there haven't been many memorable movies that I was "in love" with after viewing.

To me, a good movie is one I see and immediately say, "I have to get that movie when it comes out!"...the last time I did that, which was the first time in a long time, was with Little Miss Sunshine. I will be the first to admit that it does not have universal appeal, but like Amelie...it is a total Mandy movie so for me...it wins.

Before that, I couldn't tell you...which is sad.

Deep thoughts...deep thoughts ;)

As long as they keep shitty series like Final Destination and Bring It On going, I don't think it'll get any better. Question: If it's the FINAL destination, how can it have a sequel? They could have a prequel, like Pre-Final Destination, but Final 2 doesn't seem to make any sense. And I'm still wondering what the It in Bring It On really is. The Pain?

When I think if really Good movies, thinking in the same category as The Green Mile, Shawshank Redemption, A Beautiful Mind, etc, there hasn't been a lot lately. I think the last two movies I saw that rate in that category were Crash and Hotel Rwanda. And I loved 40 Year Old Virgin and Wedding Crashers, but they're more the "good-for-what-it-was" style.
