The only thing I can think of is:

- if they're smaller, are you using enough oil? Mine dry within about 12 hours when they're the smaller ones, and as long as I've used enough oil and packed them hard enough, they've not crumbled upon touching them

- or were they big ones? I don't know how those work, yet, if so. How did the big ones I made last? Have they crumbled into bits or did they stay put? it's possible that with big ones, you have to let them dry longer, but I don't know.

they're bigger; i'm hoping they just need more time to dry. i tried to err on the side of too much w/ the oil; i think i used plenty. most of them packed nice and tight, no problem. we'll see how they're doing once i get home. i'll be a little upset if they don't work, although since they haven't fizzed, i suppose i could just bung 'em into the bowl and add STILL MORE oil and redo 'em. if they're wasted anyway, it can't hurt to try and salvage something.

the big ones (huh huh) you made on NYE also crumbled to bits. i suspect not enough oil and not drying long enough.

hell, at this point i'm tempted to break out the hair dryer and see what THAT does. >;)

Interesting - yeah, that was my first time doing big ones, and so had no idea what to expect.

With smaller ones, I've had no problems, though. Good luck with the experimentation!

Take care of youself (like you needed someone to say that. But really, what else can I say). Hope you're feeling better soon.
