Welcome to the best way to spend a Sunday afternoon ever! I read them all, loved them all and yeah, I'm thinking there's definitely more Scotty in my future! It's a toss up on which one I love more! Assassin's was brutal and beautiful - I freaking adore green_postit's mirror verse stuff (her spin-offs to graceandfire's Brightness Burns series destroy me with alarming regularity, but her Scotty and OMFG Christine were AMAZING. I'm poring over the rest of bloodyweelwrite's stuff now too and that dark Chekov/Scotty drunken encounter fic was gorgeous. HEEEEE! Thank you! Feel free to Scotty spam me ANYTIME.

Oh man this is so totally hot and I love Scotty/Kirk to bits so I feel pretty bad about nitpicking, I can only hope you'll forgive me for being a pain in the ass.

Early in the fic you use "fookin" and "foine" to imply accent but strictly speaking that's northern English, not Scottish. Maybe near the border but Scotty's supposedly from near Edinburgh and the accent Pegg uses in the film sounds to my ear pretty close to Glaswegian (certainly the colloquialisms are e.g. 'get to fuck' 'blah blah blah by the way' are very closely associated with Glasgow). The 'i' in fine would be very pronounced, also the 'u' in fucking would be pretty short. Try to say it aloud without using a 'u' at all and you should get the right sound. He would totally drop the 'g' though.

Ah. Annoying lecture over. Really sorry, as I say. If you're not british there's no reason why you should know these things.

No worries about nit picking, I encourage it! As long as you're not calling me an idiot for flubbing it so badly, or being a jerk (which you didn't and you aren't) it's con-crit :D

Whee! 'Fein' is the right sound for fine, though 'Fackin' would be a London accent. It might be easiest just to spell them normally and allow the readers mind to fill in the blanks. The most important thing to remember about Weegies is that they talk at breakneck speed so pretty much anything they say is almost unintelligable anyway.

Heh. I've only lived in Scotland two years but my whole family are Scottish, so if you have any questions I'd be happy to try and answer them. I'm flattered that you would think that would be helpful.

I'm glad they work for you! I was rereading janice_lester's brilliant and cracky Undercover with Scotty and one of the commenters remarked that this was a pairing they just couldn't see. I'm thinking it's time to finally write the sequel ;)
