In the fine tradition of cliches the (western) world over, I have indulged in some retail therapy. I am now the proud owner of a shiny, new Wacom Intuos5 Touch tablet. The big one (not the extra big, just the big, I do have some self-restraint after all also, Memory Express didn't carry the extra-large). It is 3x the size of my poor, abused Intuos4

It depends on your usage, but if you're finding you need more pressure or that the nib is dragging along the surface, it's a good indicator that new ones are needed.

And random advice is random. I've got wrist issues, shooting pain, numbness, weakness and I used to have to spend a lot of time in braces. Which really sucks for drawing. But you know what really helped me out?

Guitar Hero.

Seriously. I started playing Guitar Hero for a couple of hours a week and I haven't had to wear my wrist brace since 2009.

I don't know if it's your wrist or not, but if so, get thee to a game store :)

At some point you will have to come out here and visit and you and Hubby can wax poetic over tools (he's so in love with his Cintiq that he has three, one for his studio, the old back up one for home and the portable one for on the road). You're on the list of people that I would love my whole family to meet, since I know they would all adore you...

Oh wow. I WISH I had a Cintiq (those are the ones that display the image directly on the table, yeah? SEXY.) Well, if your hubby ever regrets his excess and wants to offload one and vanquish some of that first world guilt, I volunteer to take that blow ;) I'm cool like that :D

And I will pick it up in person! And we can go out for delicious food and beer and glory ^.^
