the biggest problem when it comes to weight loss is that people simply don't want to have to work at it, like you said. they want to sit on the couch, stuffing their faces with bad food and watching equally bad television. the majority wants a quick fix that doesn't actually mean they have to change their lives.
Eh, that's getting a little too far into fat-shaming territory for me to be comfortable with.
Personally, I would also LOVE to find a quick fix solution that would allow me to stuff my face and sit on my butt all day and still be healthy, so I can definitely see the appeal. There's so much more to the issue than being lazy and/or unwilling to change your lifestyle though. The link between obesity and poverty is telling; it's cheaper to buy crap than it it is to buy healthy food, and if you're working 60 hours a week to make ends meet, finding time to take care of yourself can be challenging. Throw in societal pressure to look a certain way, regardless of your body type or body needs and you've got a recipe for desperation and vulnerability that these kinds of bullshit scams can prey on.
I may need to reword this rant to make it clearer that I'm ranting at the system and the scam artists and not the people who get suckered. I can see how the opening paragraphs could be misinterpreted. Thank you.
hhmm... perhaps i did come off as being harsh initially. which is bad of me because i'm not into the fat shaming thing at all (considering i am still a bit of a fattie myself). it's just frustrating to see people always trying to take the quick fix because the obvious answer - eat less junk food, exercise more - is too hard for them

Sorry for being defensive. i did read your comment as a bit aggressive, which made me go back to the original text and realize that I was coming off as harsh (and I honestly do appreciate you bringing that to my attention!).
*nod* Yeah, I am very, very lucky that I have a good job and I can afford to eat healthy. Considering the bulk of my groceries are 'convenience' type foods so that I limit the amount that i actually have to cook (lack of time and interest), I spend waaaaay more than I could afford if I were still waitressing and clerking full time. As a relic from that period in my life, I still can't eat Kraft Dinner or Lipton Sidekicks *shudder
