This could possibly be the worst 2 days ever. I wake up yesterday to the city zoning enforcer ringing the door bell and telling us that we are in zoning violation for our house. Turns out the house i'm living in is zoned for a single family which means they should have never let my roommates and i sign the lease in the first place. We got talk to

Wow... sooo if you are renting places out to people, shouldn't you know these type of things about your property? If you are going to have any further monetary charges I would lawyer up.

no be angry. You signed a lease if the lanlord is in violation of that lease then he should be responsible for finding you a new place, and setting up the utilities and paying for them. You have tenants rights you know. If they landlord made a mistake, or even a company made the mistake, they should pay for it. As well as the fines that they may incounter while you are living there awaiting them to find you a new place.

You should threaten to take them to court if they don't and get a free lawyer for it. Also obtain a copy of your lease.

But I agree with what has already been said. You do have rights as a tennant and it is the landlords fault. I tried to find some information to help you. I hope you can make it into town! I miss you!
