Mello leaned against the wall, arms wrapped around himself to keep as warm as he could, though his gun was still in his hand and tucked close, out of sight but ready. His breaths fogged in the freezing air as he looked up and down the street every once in a while, listening for footsteps. Fuck, it was cold. And after more than a year of living in Los Angeles, snow wasn't all that welcome ( ... )

It was hard not to spot the shock of golden blond hair and black leather against the snowy backdrop. A tug in his chest tried to convince Matt to hurry his pace up but head won out in the end and the gamer actually slowed his pace, his leg hurting more and more with every step. Matt stopped along side of the blond, large sunglasses covering green eyes instead of the usual orange goggles, broken in the redhead's arrival.

As he stood there, a gloved hand reached into the vest pocket, pulling out a pack of cigarettes, a single stick being removed as well as a lighter which was hidden in the pack. He would wait. There was no reason for him to speak up first. After all, it was Mello's fault the redhead had to come out here so why should he bother to open his mouth. Well, save for taking a drag of his cigarette.

Sharp blue eyes swiveled around to the source of footsteps soon enough, coming toward him from down the street, and he pushed himself off the wall to stand straighter as if the cold wasn't getting to him. There was a moment, a quick blink when he wasn't certain for a second, and then Mello's eyes narrowed as he watched Matt near. He was definitely limping, and pretty heavily too.

Mello took a few steps forward to meet him, trying to meet the redhead's eyes behind the large glasses, and taking off his own to slip them into his jacket pocket. The gun remained loosely in one hand, though he didn't even think about it. He focused solely on Matt, eyes scanning his body for more injuries and frowning slightly.

"Matt, if you're hurt, you should have just told me where you were and I'd have found you," he pointed out strictly.

There was something about this Mello that was different. His scar was off, it didn't look right. It looked older and smoother as if it had been on the blond longer than a few weeks. Matt made no move to remove his glasses even when the blond took off his, the snow making it far too bright for any of that, let alone he had no desire to make eye contact with Mello.

"So nice of you to care now." Turning away from the leather clad male, the gamer started to make his way back to the apartment building. He had no desire to open up to the other about anything. Not now and certainly not anytime soon.
