He should have expected it, really. After four months of having to live with Rhode - forced to live with Rhode in this goddamn building, he should have expected it. When Rhode came out of her doors and sent her candles after him, he didn't expect it. He didn't even know she was there until she spoke.

Only then did he turn around. The candles caught him, mostly, cause him to stumble back from the force and drop Mugen. He didn't waste any time before moving to pull the candles out of him, and the pain was obvious in his voice when he spoke.

"Very funny." Kanda gave a soft hiss, wincing. He couldn't see where Rhode was, and, hell, he couldn't even see where he had dropped Mugen. Not really.

...This was going to be fun.

One patent-leather shoe kicked Mugen as hard as it could, away from the scene of the crime, with a vicious snarl underneath her breath, a vile curse-word that certainly didn't belong in the mouth of a little girl wielding a frilly pink umbrella.

"You should be grateful~♪"

Rhode stepped forward, throwing another candle at Kanda, aimed for his right arm, her golden eyes glinting furiously in the rain.

"I was playing nice♪ this entire time -- because Allen asked me to. And he's going to be so~♪ mad~♪ that his friend was stupid enough to throw away his life for nothing~♥"

Her shoes squelched in the mud as she stepped forward, tipping her umbrella backwards slightly to get a better look at Kanda, her snarl marring her features into something ugly.

"He's the only one who doesn't watch me, you know. He doesn't check on me. He doesn't chase after me and open doors to make sure I'm not there -- and he doesn't tell me to watch my backAnd Rhode raised her hand, her snarl transforming into a wicked smile, holding the pointed edge of the ( ... )

Mugen. Kanda's eyes widened slightly when he heard it be kicked away, immediately moving to retrieve his Innocence. He ignored Rhode, seeing as it didn't matter if he said anything at this point or not. He didn't see the candle aiming for his right arm until it was nearly too late, and quickly moved off to the side to dodge it. He ignored the cut it left behind and continued on.

He had to stop, though, at the candle at his throat. A gloved hand reached up to cover his bleeding arm, but otherwise stood there. His eyes scanned through the fog carefully, trying to see past the veil that Rhode was using for her cover.

He still didn't say anything.

There was a shrill giggle as another candle rocketed out of nowhere, to slam into Kanda's left shoulder from behind. This was what Rhode was good at -- ducking and weaving, hitting and running away -- and the sheer delight of finally being able to shut this idiot's mouth from teasing her was almost too much to stand.

"What are you going to do, Kanda~? ♥" Rhode jeered, a shadow in the fog as she slipped further away, but the candle remained hovering at his throat. "Kill me?"
