The group comes through Nita's door and ends up in Grand Central Station. It's late; no one's around except some guards, somewhere, and probably Rhiow and her team. Nita and her passenger, having energy to spare, handle the translocation spell that gets them into the atrium of the Library itself

Somebody has to tell my dad, Kit.
"Dai, partner."
Nita looks down at the Book again, hesitating--
Then her head comes up sharply, eyes bright and narrowing.
"Something's happening," murmurs the Whisperer.
A moment later, something -- somethings -- growl in the darkness. The Whisperer's jaw sets, and She steps away from the portal.
"It seems we have more to deal with than we'd hoped," She says, and Nita adds, looking into the darkness, "Fairest and Fallen, greetings and -- again -- defiance."
