Love the world you're building here, and I'm curious about the Layers and how angels work. It's interesting that you're using Uriel as the Reaper: how did you choose him? Oh, and I really like the concept that the 'god' Sol can die because of his belief dwindling...I've always really liked that idea.

The italicized narration style is sort of jarring, though. It feels sort of half like a traditional storytelling voice and half like it's personally talking to the reader, and that's kind of confusing...

This isn't actually my world. It's really spurious_sanity's, and I just play in it from time to time. Okay, so a lot of the time. And on the Angel names, I just made 'em up based on what sounded good.

Oh, really? Well, congrats to you both, then. And it really amuses me that you made Uriel up, because he's one of the archangels in Christian mythology, and is a complete bastard. He also has the Best Angel Quote Ever: "Your understanding concerning this world had utterly failed." (2 Esdras 4:3). XDD

I was leery to read this because I hate unhappy endings because I am a sap, but I decided to dive in anyway. And now I'm along for the ride no matter the ending ;_; I do hope at least some good things happen.
