Escapism and guilty pleasures

Since learning that for my mother the melanoma has spread to her brain and lungs, I have taken to escaping to fiction even more than I usually do

I have a very strange relationship with Berg's books. I tend to like them, on the whole, but always wish they were a little more...something. I find myself buying her books but never finishing them with a I-loved-that-and-have-to-share-it! feeling.
