I just love it when there's a strange or unusual product that a company announces, gives a vague release date and conveniently releases no information about it when the vague release date arrives ( Read more... )

opera, nintendo ds

Thanks for your comment, but I was wondering if anyone had any thoughts on why this sort of thing happens.

A lot of times, the "release dates" are given by "market analysts" that dont know "jack krap" about the "video game industry". This is why the "release dates" are always "incorrect". ;)

Nice icon, man :)

But wouldn't Nintendo benefit from the hype associated with a concrete release date? Man, I want to mark my calendar!!

I thought the estimate was around July or something... But whenever it decides to come, it'll be well-recieved and I'm sure it'll not go un-noticed.

Just as long as they're not making plans for it around next year, I'll be happy. Would have been nice to start off my summer with it...

I never heard July--just June for Japan and no one's said anything about releasing it anywhere else. I don't mind importing it, though.

I guess I'm just impatient.

It's only about 24 hours into the month. Give it time.

I don't need the browser itself to be released, I just want to know a more specific when is all. Hell, man, I bought the DS kind of assuming a browser would have shown up for it by now and while the homebrew community has provided in that department, I'm afraid I'm not good with that stuff.

I'll just be watching the skies...er, screen in hopes of news soon...

I bought the DS hoping a web browser would never come out. I was pretty psyched when Nintendo said the DS and Wii would be designed exclusively for game playing, and nothing else. When companies try to make devices do many things (i.e. Cell phone-mp3 player-cameras), they tend to do none of them very well. Whole problem with the PSP. They opted for fragile, bulky, slow-loading, battery-consuming disks instead of cartridges, because they wanted you to be able to play movies with it. The PS3 has been held up because Sony's trying to include their proprietary hi-def movie disks into the system, which will raise the cost and really not benefit the game-playing ability of the system. When they announced the TV tuner and web browser for DS, I was a bit disappointed. But, third party, what can you do? The DS is great at playing games, that's why I love it.
