I just got notified that my diploma certificate is completed! I'm now officially a graduated biologist!! My grade could have been better, but considering I didn't get along with my tutor at all, I'm just glad that everything worked out...

What field are you looking at?

My thesis deals with small supernumerary marker chromosomes, but while working on it I realized that I don't like the work in a laboratory too much, so right now I'm looking what else there is. My specific subjects have been zoology, genetics, medicinal microbiology and anthropology.

Sounds like you have a wide open field ahead of you. But maybe it's the labs you've been in tainting the experience for you?

Yes, maybe - I didn't get along with my tutor, so the atmosphere in the lab wasn't the best... I'll be looking for Ph. D. positions, but I'm glad I've got a job right now (even if it's a not really challenging office job), so I don't have to take the first offer that comes along, but can look out for something I'd really like to do. And I will look preferentially for a position in the anthropology field, not in genetics, where I did my thesis, because in this only the results are interesting, not the process of getting them :)

I will not lie and say that studying biology was easy - at times it was quite hard work and very stressful. But it's also a very fascinating field and if you're interested in it, it's well worth the efforts. I wish you all the best for your studies! At which university are you enlisted?

Thank you! I´m going to study at Faculty of Biological Sciences, University of South Bohemia. It´s in the Czech Republic in České Budějovice.
