Assassinate Olympia

Jul 01, 2005 08:23

There's this game starting up here in Olyburg. It's one of those games where you have to get a toy projectile gun and "assassinate" someone else who's playing, and everybody's going around assassinating everyone else. It is very ninja-ey and not very Pirate-ey, but it still sounds like fun. Have any of you heard of this kind of game or played ( Read more... )

it's something that's been going on since before AOL had interenet access.

it's most popular form was organized by a central group, and to participate you sent in your photo, and committed to be at a given place like a mall on a certain day.
youd get a persons picture in the mail, and tehy were your mark. you then collected their mark, and the one highlander left would feast on their power and become the one true immortal.
after tehy jumped off a cliff.

It happens a lot at colleges. I've played it several times in dorms, clubs, etc.

yeah its called assasin. with water guns. its a lot of fun. do you play with polaroid pictures so you know who you're killing...and then when you kill the person on your polaroid you get the polaroid they had in their possesion and thats who you go after next.

No, we're going by full names. Most of us downtowners all know each other to some degree, and it looks like there'll be enough non-players who know people who can rat your mark out (and rat you out).

When you kill someone, you call the music store that's setting this up and they give you the name of your next person (your old mark's mark). Polaroids would be a totally killer way of doing this, though. Man!

We can't use water guns. We're going with the Nerf approach. This is something they expect to take a few weeks, because nobody's all in one place.

I played at college. No water guns, though, only "Phys(ical) Rep(resentation)" weapons. We generally knew each other, so no polaroids, but if you don't know someone, you can pay a snitch.

That sounds like exactly what we're doing (I got my Nerf blowgun today). Most people here know each other. 2 degrees of separation at the most.

Paying a snitch. I hadn't even thought of that. Most of us are Anarchists though, so I don't know if that'll get me anything. It might actually turn some potential snitches away.

Well we didn't just play with targets, we used an imaginary money system too, where you were paid for successful kills, paid for staying alive, and your "boss" may even reward a particularly clever assassination. Money gives you the ability to buy niftier weapons, like contact or ingestible poison, grenades, etc.

There's also a book I found at a gaming store, called Assassin, with some awesome ideas in it.

Woah! That sounds crazy fun! And intense. I'll have to work up to that one.

I'll keep an eye out for that "Assassin" book next time I'm at the card/comic/game store (but it's not very often).
