Criminals tend to rampage around in normal worlds and disrupt the status quo, inflicting the abnormal on all sorts of people for whom it's not their norm. Kind of like this place, really. The thing is, we're collectively not sure if the person in charge here is one of those criminals or just a misguided person suffering at the hands of a real criminal.

Well, I'm from Japan, in a world that's at least pretty similar to this one -- but I'm from about thirty years into the "future" compared to this place.

Oh, that's rather interesting. I suppose the computer and technology level is a lot more like what I'm used to, then? Ah, do you have AI yet?

Well, I'm not sure what you're used to, but it's a lot more advanced than the stuff we've got here. And yes, we have pretty sophisticated AI. Some AIs are almost indistinguishable from humans.

Uh-huh! It's not very common, but I do know an AI who's got one.

That's amazing. That's... really amazing. So similar to what I'm familiar with. When we get out of here, we're going to have to open up relations as soon as possible.

Diplomatic style. You know, formal alliances. Not keeping what we do a secret any more and helping to administrate your place in cooperation.

Oh, I see. So you only keep your Time-Space Administration thing a secret from worlds whose technology levels are lower than yours?
