And the war machine keeps turning...

Went into the lab today to plate some strains, so I'm ready to get on with the MICs tomorrow. I also checked the results of Friday's MICs today. They don't seem to match up to my 1st couple of attempts with them (the data of which I'm not going to use anyway), or even what they really should be. I just want to move on from repeating the same strains several times just because something doesn't add up. It's meant to be such a simple fucking experiment and I can't even get it right.

Welcome to science. I just spent the last year running PCR after PCR and not getting the results I want, we're getting random fragments and we don't know why, and no good results. I spent 4 months chasing up what we discovered to be random eronious bands. One girl in the lab spent 2 1/2 years doing positional cloning to find her gene.

Well, thing is, I don't really have that much time XD I've got maybe 2 weeks in the lab at the most before I should really start writing everything up.

My honours project went a similar route as well - simple techniques, abject unexplainable failure. I think I'm just getting rather annoyed that all my projects seem to turn out like this.

They're bugs man. They got a mind of their own and I'm telling you, no matter what anyone else says, they're smart enough to know how to screw you over.

Oh yeah, since you asked, I've started my 2nd year of residency now.
