State of the Nineveh

I had a lovely weekend with Dad, in which I managed to squeeze in 3 episodes of Good Omens by watching them at 6:30am in the morning on successive days, and now I have three left to go tonight. I am mostly avoiding adaptation spoilers so far, but I’ve seen a few and my resistance is growing weaker. Fortunately I don’t have to hold out for long. ( Read more... )

Ooh, what did you think of the new ending? Obviously something more visually interesting than the book ending was needed (though that was there too, I suppose).

Which bit of new ending? There was a surprising amount!

Animated Satan - not convinced by that one, I'd definitely have gone for a different style.
The new plot post-Armageddon in ep 6 - really enjoyed it, have just written fic and am disturbed by how attractive David Tennant is in his vest and long socks, doing a Kenneth Williams impression. More seriously, I think that actually resolving that plot rather than "and everything has just gone quiet" was probably necessary given the enlarged roles for Heaven and Hell, because the characters we've seen aren't ones to just let things lie.
Switching round the final scenes so it doesn't end with Adam, but with Aziraphale and Crowley? Absolutely how I had dreamed of it ending earlier this year :-)

I have to say I missed the flaming Metatron (though the other angels were plenty flaming ;-)

As for the alarming undies - you just know that those were actually what Aziraphale considers decent underwear, and he just changed the colour to black! Perhaps Crowley-in-disguise was wearing painfully expensive designer briefs that no angel would ever consider . . . And it was all a lot more amusing to see on screen than "everyone on earth, and Above and Below just forgot what happened." Hmm - the TV version certainly needs something to happen to Crowley, because Hastur for one wouldn't drop the matter of Ligur's death. Nothing is said, but if everything is put back as it was in the book, Ligur may well be back for lurking duty as well, leaving the status very much quo.

I have to say, I thoroughly enjoyed it! Did you notice that Crowley's James Bond bullet hole stickers were on the Bentley front driver's side window? I was so delighted by that. And by Crowley's painfully fashionable hair through the centuries, hee hee!

There was certainly no lack of flaming angels one way or the other!

you just know that those were actually what Aziraphale considers decent underwear, and he just changed the colour to blackOf course! And no doubt Aziraphale was equally horrified by Crowley's designer briefs (possibly as modeled by David Beckham?). Each of them took one look of the other's pants, realised how much of their character they encapsulated, and refused point black to wear them ( ... )
