haha, I think you won't be in the least surprise when I say that I choose Rising Sign for the 1st thingie. :P

(I'd give you smth for the 2nd thingie too, but I'm currently sick with a cold and don't have the concentration to go looking...)

Hah. This might be more obvious than I realize, but through a lot of the process of writing RS I remember kinda not being sure to what extent Jim might have been in love with Kara? The fic is sort of weird to try to classify pairing-wise, because the two of them hook up in the first chapter and their relationship probably has a little more weight in the story than Kara getting with Bones...It's sort of implied in the epilogue that Jim could have gotten serious with Kara and it just wasn't really in the cards for them, but I don't know that he would have actually taken the opportunity or that he feels it ever could have actually worked out. I don't think his feelings for her are ever a sore spot, but I also think he down-plays it a little and they may have ran a bit deeper than was ever apparent to Kara.

really? well, it seems that he hides any deeper feelings rather well, because I didn't have a clue (possibly because the story is from Kara's pov, and like you say, it wasn't apparent to her).

By the time she’s done changing and adjusting her hair in front of the mirror, the name has formed into a solid phantom memory, something she’s so used to reflecting on that it hardly even affects her any more. Old-fashioned dental floss taut between her fingers pinches under her nails, and she hears the collected tightness of a man’s voice, recalls feeling like a fool, expecting more from him, and this is just doing the dishes, ridding herself of her messy thoughts as she swishes and spits and sets the glass down, standing up ramrod straight as if answering to herself. This is done and thought up in the bathroom in the morning, not on the bridge, not at work, not in front of anybody ( ... )
