I own three seasons. S1 is still the one I drag out most so I can watch stuff like the Storage Room Scene. Nine/Rose, my dear, is not an addiction. It's a way of life, a way of seeing the world. We understand the appeal of big ears. We realize that the collarbone is quite possibly the most erotic part of a man's body. We know that "cute" simply doesn't cut it when "sexy as hell" is on the menu. We are the few, the proud . . . the Pervy Nine Fanciers! Stand tall!
LMAO! I SO know what you mean! I got S1 for my B-day in the autumn...just love them! I got S2 and S3 for Christmas and haven't even watched them yet...so that should tell you something!
Hee!! My scenario nearly mirrors yours. I'm busy now keeping track of friends I'm watching the DVDs with, who are not allowed to watch it without me. But that's okay, because I have them, and no one else is prepared to buy them. Yet. Thanks for your history, it's quite enabling. ;)
I have never even considered buying S2 or S3. Wow. Me too. I just...after this? how could there be a point? Money aside *cough*, I can't bear to switch Doctors. Like, ever. Dead sexy beats cute, as honorh says. ...Oh, fewmets, now I have to write fic....must feed stop the addiction.... *growls over more lost time* XD
Sadly, I've only gotten to watch it with one friend physically, but I did turn quite a few people onto it.
There are some episodes of S3 that I might like to have, but not enough to spend the money. Character changes aside, I just don't think the writing is nearly as good in S2 or S3 - certainly not the long arcs.
*g* It feels strange reading your journal, and the other comments to it, after a very differnt conversation at someone else's journal.
I got the S1 DVD last December, and have only recently started watching the episodes again. I knew that they would'nt have the same nostalgic, pre-fandom sheen to them, and I was right. But I still adore them so much-except for the two which I didn't like at the time, which I suppose I might enjoy after a few more viewings.
And I'm buying S3 as soon as I can afford it *much spoilery mumbling and drooling*...er, yeah.

I don't know if it's a Nine vs. Ten dialogue you're talking about, but that's basically why I won't get into the other seasons. I know they're great from the love I perceive for them here, but I...well, I like to preserve something perfect if I find it! And this came close. So close. I can't relinquish this enthusiasm for the next that easily - nor do I want to debate the virtues of 9 and 10 even with myself! I just watch this season like a self-contained long movie and it's lovely. And I fanwank the end a lot. ;)
it just feels like such a shame that you're missing out on so much ...yeah I know. I just don't have the time or emotional resources to do it right now. I imagine that eventually the new(er) New Who will suck me in as well. :)
