LOL - BOXES!! (1) I got my mom one of her Christmas gifts this year strictly because she LOVES the boxes they come in (H&D tower of treats), and
(2) I used to swap favors with an old boyfriend (not that kind of favors)! He'd do "stuff" around the house (plumbing, electrical, construction, etc. - guy stuff) for me. In return I'd wrap all his Christmas presents - something he hated and would NOT do. The problem was - Pete made all his presents (beautiful woodwork & toys) - but he "made" all his boxes too. He'd fashion them out of larg chunks of cardboard. Not a single 90 degree angle to be found - ANYWHERE! *sigh*
I was working so much in December I didn't decorate, do cards, or even bake. Well, Christmas Eve I baked a few things to take to the boys - but they were with my ex this year. Jon & Dan were so excited - they couldn't wait to share them with their dad and their step mom. Not exactly what I'd had in mind, but tis the season.
I spent what little time I had this month taking care of my mom, helping her with shopping, taking her food, etc. It just seemed more important than "faking" the spirit when I was so exhausted. I think I chose wisely.
On to 2008! Good luck with that "mentoring" thingie (or is it actually more like remedial kiking and screaming?)
Forgive me if I'm behind - I haven't been on LJ in almost a week!
And the profound question for the day.. is it spelled thingy, or thingie?

Hope you had a great time unwrapping all your presents at least. And have a happy new year too. :-)
Personally I'm quite relieved it's all over for another year.
Bah Humbug ;-)
