Hey, nothing bad can happen to Helen, she's too kind!! I like how you are showing a softer side of the MoW, caring for Helen, fixing things for Irene. I think he, much like Irene, has alot of feelings bottled up inside him that make him seem more gruff or unfeeling than he truly is.

My favorite funny line: “Your grace knows no bounds, does it?” heehee, Gen thinks he's so graceful and coordinated, sometimes I think it's good for him to fall flat on his face every once in a while... I bet Irene thinks so to!

One tiny, one-letter typo:

practitioner of herbalism as oppose(d) to medicine

Very nice job! And I'm sure you would *never* let anything bad happen to Helen....

Why does everyone think I'm gonna kill Helen? Oh, right... because I just gave her a near fatal disease. Ahem...

I would reassure you by saying I'm not into character death, but considering I'm planning on killing one of my favorite characters in my DW series three AU (not permanently, mind you), I can't claim that. However, I can tell you that Irene has a few trick up her sleeve, and we can count on her to do the right thing!

The MoW is secretly a softy. Like Gen, sometimes all he needs is a big hug!

Thank you, my dear. I hope you enjoy the upcoming conclusion!

This is a little out of left field, but I wanted to ask a regular reader this question. Is there anything you don't like about this story? This is my very first long, original story, and I want to learn from the experience as much as I can! Anything that could be better, more thought through, really boring, feels sloppy? Concrit is always good!

I'm sorry, I didn't see this until today...it's been the most hectic weekend ever :(

I don't see anything that feels sloppy, and certainly nothing that feels boring - I get bored *really* easily, so if it was boring, you would have lost me a long time ago!

My one observation, and this is mostly a style thing, is that sometimes some of the expressions you use have a little bit of a modern feel to them, for example, '"I'm starting to get you,"' I tried to go back and find some of the others I had noticed along the way, but I couldn't find them....I guess they can't be that bad then!

Like I said, it's mostly a style thing, and just something that bothers me, even in books. I read a book once that was supposed to be a Saxon setting and the main charachter was calling her father 'Dad.'

Honestly, I think you are doing a great job. Do you ever think about writing your own original stories?

Ow, thank you! I get so worried it's boring sometimes! Reading The Writer's Tale has actually been therapeutic, because Mr. Davis talks about his constant struggle with feeling like his stories are not any good. His stories are so brilliant I almost have a hard to believing that, but it's good to know I'm not the only one ( ... )

Well just make sure you publish under the nome de plume 'Lady Jane' that way when you become a famous author, we'll all know it's you!!

Mr. Davis, who you mentioned above, what does he write? I don't recognize the name...

Keh... I'd publish under an alias, I think; because my real name is so unique. Either way, I'll be sure to tell all my LJ friends if I published a book!

Russell T. Davis is a very famous very successful British TV writer. He was the head-writer of Doctor Who series 1-4 plus the specials and the creator of the spin-off shows, Torchwood and The Sarah Jane Adventures. The Writer's Tale is an email correspondence between him and Benjamin Cook, the editor for Doctor Who magazine, during the production of series 4 and the specials. Sounds boring, I know, but it's good stuff! It's also the size of the Bible, so this one is going to take me awhile to finish...

I also love how he says he has a soundtrack for everything he writes, which he listens to while he works on the story. I do the same thing!
