the beard question, it is a joke, parodying the stupid question about scientology on digg.
Let's make Trent laugh, and know that we're not all idiots!
click here for voting instructions here are a list of the questions1. There are plenty of social networks that allow people to share what they’re watching or listening to, but relatively few for what they’re reading. That being said, what are you currently reading and who are your favorite authors? What are your favorite stories?
2. Everyone collects something. Everyone. What do you collect? What are your hobbies?
3. You've certainly taken good care of your body and it's really shown for a while now. What do you do to stay in shape and stay healthy? Do you have a specific workout/gym routine you stick to all the time?
4. What are some non-music-related things you've always wanted to do in your life and haven't gotten to yet, but would really like to accomplish in the future?
5. Years ago, you mentioned you wanted to release The Fragile in Surround Sound by 2009. Given that this year is its 10th anniversary as well as the 20th anniversary of PHM , do you have any plans to commemorate either or both releases like TDS in '04 or is there just too much red tape involved? What other elements besides the music would you want to include?
6. The Still album featured deconstructed and new pieces of music that showcased a "softer" side to NIN. Do you have any interest in creating another album like Still in the future? What are some of the more-recent songs that you could see restructured to be like Still? How do you think combining elements of Still and Ghosts would work as its own tour?
7. With Teeth's physical package was an experiment with digital media requiring fans who wanted to see the booklet to head to the Internet and download it, but it was later confirmed that a deluxe edition with a book/essay would be available during an upcoming tour. Whatever happened with this and will it ever see the light of day?
8. The A.I.R. “movement” was a very interesting concept that went viral yet you rarely mention it now. Was it primarily a fictional part of a concept album that in your mind is no longer in context, or if part of a larger plan for future works, in what way are you planning to continue its socio-political-artistic movement? Or was your intent to give the idea to the fans and let them form it into their own ideology, and how might their continuation of the concept integrate into future NIN projects?
9. For the upcoming tour, is there any kind of recurring theme that is surrounding it or is it more of a "Farewell, but before we go we're gonna lay it all out there and go nuts on stage" kind of thing?
10. There is a large demand for live recordings of Nine Inch Nails' shows. Have you ever considered a monetized (perhaps by donations) NIN-specific live recording torrent site, and if so, are there any particular legal issues that would prevent you from releasing live recordings? What about providing soundboard or pro video footage from the past, such as from the surprise OSR gig?
11. Regarding unreleased material, it should come as no surprise that you probably have mountains and mountains of it lying around. Have you ever gone back and reworked material into later releases and is there a plan to release it to the community to either digest or possibly remix? What are the legal implications involved?
12. There have been many inquiries about the soundcheck for "Lights in the Sky." What made you decide to not play the song live during the last tour and will we ever see it live? What are the reasons for not ever playing certain songs at shows, and given that band members have mentioned learning 70+ songs, how do you pick the 20-ish that get played each show?
13. You recently asked your followers on Twitter for cover song suggestions for the upcoming NIN|JA tour. What kind of results did this yield and was there anything that really stood out to you? What were some of the more outlandish ones?
14. To expand on what you said in the Digg Dialogg about figuring out a way to monetize nin.com, what plans have you considered to make that a success? What about putting a donate button on the site?
15. What do you think of fan tributes like the Rock-afire Explosion performance of 1,000,000? (Link:
http://tinyurl.com/nin1m) Is there one tribute that stands out in your mind that you'd like to share? What is the creepiest or nicest thing a fan has ever done for you?
16. If you were to make a shortlist of people anywhere in the world with whom you could collaborate on a project, who would be on it and why?
17. You have a history of making songs exclusively for movie soundtracks and lending your existing music to movie trailers. Would scoring an entire film be something you'd be interested in?
18. You hosted an online survey last year regarding a variety of topics with your tours, music, etc. Has the data from that survey helped shape what we're seeing with NIN right now?
19. Does being a constant tease to the NIN fan community bring you immense amounts of joy similar to the amounts of agony you've caused each and every one of us because of this?
20. Many relationships and friendships have formed between fans due to your hard work with bringing fans together. Have you been surprised that any of your projects yielded unexpected results among the fan community and in what way was the outcome different from your original expectations?
21. You were able to tap into a large market and garner lots of fame fairly early in your career with NIN. What are the most important lessons you have learned from that?
22. Rob has blogged about his general dislike/hatred for beards. You've had a beard numerous times since then. Has this caused any tension? Has your opinion on beards changed? (

In case you didn't figure it out, the poll I posted in
nine_inch_nails was phony.
The giveaway was that I said those questions were "of general interest to everyone", but there were a number of questions that were clearly only of interest to a few people.
Others were just too silly, and i figured everyone who know that there can't possibly be that many silly questions in one poll.
And "Trent, what colour are your eyes"? Seriously, watch "Into The Void" if you want to know that!
