So I’ve been quiet for quite some time on the posting front and it’s not that I don’t want to write but I’ve been so beat down with work and with all sorts of other things going on that I just haven’t gotten to it.

Dunno if you saw my most recent post... the watercress now seems to think it's kudzu, the way it keeps growing and spreading. I harvested some and made stir-fry with it last week, and it was delicious!

I did find, and cannibalize, the old cat fountain, so now I have an "aquarium pump". I have to get the use of the car when either a large pet store and/or Lowes/Home Depot are open, because I need some hose. And the damn thing looks as if it only has one connection, but without hose, I can't tell whether that's intake or outflow. Is a puzzlement.

I saw that! Excellent!

Does the pump say aquarium pump on it? Those are usually meant to pump air not water but since you said it came from a cat fountain that's probably a standard fountain pump.

And if it has only one hose connection it's likely a submersible pump that intakes from the sides or bottom of the pump. You can set it in a soup bowl of water and start it up and you'll know immediately. ;-)

The pump says "aquarium pump" on it, and it also says "do not run dry", and has a large arrow pointing in what I assume is the "this end up" direction. Also, the hose connection is for a 1" hose - far bigger than an air hose. There is no visible intake, though. And I'm a little dubious about just submerging it, because there's a 110VAC power cord that would be immersed in water if I did. Oh well... if I trip a breaker, at least the panel is right there in the kitchen.
